The silhouettes remained western with constructed jackets in gray, beige, pink, lavender and orange colours. Models walked wearing chiffon, silk and velvet dresses with innovative cuts that reflected the imaginative thought process.

On being asked how he would rate his line on wearability, Gaurav says, "I think it’s the art of designing that matters, wearable or not takes a back seat then. Obviously when I place my clothes in stores, it would definitely boil down by half."

Next on ramp were tops with zigzag designs. Jackets, pants and tees with big pockets in different shapes looked a little bizarre.

The designer explains the thoughts behind the designs.

"I wanted my clothes to represent the opposing elements in all of us. And I wanted to play them against each other. I have experimented with art and craft," explains Gaurav.

The designer balanced the abnormal cuts, pattern and designs with the use of subtle colours. The silhouettes were confined to shades of lavender, grey, black, dull orange, olives.

Champaign brocade long and short dresses with pleats and metal embroidery was of high-quality. Some jersey skirts, draped tops and chikankari dresses, silk jackets and some jeweled creations were truly inspiring.

After this showing at fashion week, the designer claims to have conquered the left bit of the domestic market. He also says that he is striking deals with international buyers too.

To sum it up in line: A classy and an innovative show by a first timer.
