At an age when her peers indulged in frivolous pursuits, Deepika, intrigued by the rich and timeless Indian fabrics spent her teenage, delving into and reviving the famed age-old weaving techniques of our forefathers. Her constant researches coupled with intense creativity, have helped her spawn new techniques of embroideries.
This FDCI accredited designer has created magic on urban luxe fabrics using the entire gamut of the legendary chikankari, kundan and mirror work, zardozi to Chinese embroideries, Kashmiri work, sequin sprays and tissue rosette work. The LOOK – Modern, Sexy and Elusive - chiffons flow, gossamer nets wrap and swirl, silk and georgettes slink and skim the beauteous female form, under Deepika’s skillful eye, to create images of sheer poetry!
Deepika has gained hands on experience acquired while negotiating the dust and grime of the fashion world. Holding the three C’s - Cut, Cloth and Creativity - close to her heart, this talented designer honed her natural skills, through studying textiles from Rachna Sansad, Mumbai. Inspired by the woman who sports an attitude of intangible class and sophistication, Deepika commenced with creating and selling her creations to up market stores like Intershoppe, Sheetal, Instyle, while simultaneously producing garments for wholesale and export houses in India and even UK.
Encouraged by the overwhelming response to her designs, Deepika Gehani launched her own label in the year 2000 with hi-fashion stores like Ensemble, Ogaan, Ffolio and Kimaya at Juhu and Dubai. The Pret Line of Deepika's collection is available at Mogra, Phoenix Mills.
