"You take the case of Tehelka expose. Only the armed forces have acted tough against the corrupt. What has happened to the civilians exposed by Tehelka? I do not hear about what happened to them," Verma told reporters.

The navy chief was asked to react to the developments in the Army over the No-Objection Certificate to a private realtor for purchasing a land adjacent to the Sukna military station near Darjeeling.

He said no armed forces chief would like "a finger to be raised regarding impropriety" and noted that he too subscribed to the view.

Former Military Secretary Lt Gen Avadesh Prakash, along with two other Lt Gens and a Maj Gen face action following an Army probe finding them culpable in the Sukna land scam.
