The committee was being constituted to offer its suggestions to the civic body.

Both residents of villages in the national capital and MCD councillors are opposed to any move to implement building by-laws in the area.

It was decided in a meeting of the Delhi Cabinet to form a committee.

The panel comprises Urban Development Minister AK Walia, Development Minister Rajkumar Chauhan, Urban Development Secretary, Law Secretary and the Revenue Commissioner to study the notification of 1963 and MCD's resolution of 2005 relating to implementation of building by-laws in Lal Dora areas.

"The committee will study the resolutions passed by MCD in 1963 and 2005 relating to Lal Dora areas and suggest guidelines on the issue to MCD," Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said after the meeting.

She said the Government will send its suggestions to the civic body by Friday this week.

The MCD Commissioner had last year, following a Supreme Court directive, given the order that the 1963 notification be withdrawn as it was being misused.
