The Delhi high court directed Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Om Prakash Chautala to appear before it on Friday after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) requested the court to advance the date of his surrender.

Chautala, a former chief minister of Haryana, was sentended to 10-year imprisonment last year in a teachers’ recruitment scam.

The INLD leader was given bail by the Delhi HC on medical grounds, but has been busy campaigning for his party for the Haryana assembly elections. The HC had earlier cancelled his bail, but given him time till October 17 to surrender.

“There is abuse of the judiciary,” the HC observed on Thursday.
