Ami Bera, a doctor, who is running for the US House of Representative on a Democratic ticket from the third district of California looks certain to lose despite raising more money than his Republican rival Dan Lungren. Widely quoted US media sources gave him a 8.4% chance of winning; Lungren came in at 91.5%.

But Raj Goyle, the Democratic candidate for the House from Kansas Fourth district has had an exceptionally tough time, being portrayed an outsider by his Republican rival Mike Pompeo. Some typical ads ran by Pompeo went along following lines: “True Americans vote for Americans”, and “Vote American, Vote Pompeo”.

The fourth Indian-American in the fray, an Iraq war veteran, up against Republican Jim Gerlach in District 6 of Pennsylvania, is not faring well either.
