Last year, the total number of positive cases stood at 781, while this year the health department has already confirmed 105 cases. Besides, the district has reported 205 suspected cases.

However, till the middle of September only 15 cases were confirmed. Surprisingly, most of these cases have been reported from posh localities like DLF City, etc.

Meanwhile, the district health department has stepped up measures to curb the spread of the disease.

“Dengue cases have shot up alarmingly in the past few weeks. We have directed our staff to carry out fogging and spread anti-larva medicines in areas prone to mosquito-breeding on a regular basis. Also, we have expedited checking in waterlogged localities,” said Dr Mahender Kumar, district malaria officer, adding that the situation was under control.

“We have inspected several areas and houses. We are advising residents to take all steps to avoid mosquito-breeding,” he added.

Mosquito breeding is on the rise as the temperature has dipped to 20 degrees Celsius.

The report states that of the 325 dengue cases so far, 105 are positive.

This year, however, two dengue deaths have taken place, as per report.
