The State Election Commission has directed the Gurgaon deputy commissioner to take action on a complaint filed by a candidate who was reportedly prevented from entering South City-2, a private locality, for campaigning.
Raman Sharma, contesting from ward 26, was allegedly forced to leave the colony by the security staff and the supervisor of the township on Thursday.
"I had gone with two people to interact with South City-2 residents and distribute pamphlets when the security guards stopped us," Raman said.
He added that he was threatened despite submitting a request with the resident welfare association (RWA) the previous day. SC Sharma, secretary of the RWA, said, "I am not aware of the matter. Our security in-charge is also out of town and we do not stop anybody from canvassing in the locality as it is a public place."
SC Sharma is also contesting the municipal elections from ward 26 on a BJP ticket.
The election commission has now directed the DC to take strict and fast action against the management of South City-2.

{{/usCountry}}Earlier too, complaints have been received from candidates that they were stopped from entering gated communities by the condominium association or estate manager of the hi-rise towers.
Developers of plotted localities such as DLF City have not allowed contestants from posting pamphlets and notices.
