Having proved his writing credentials with movies like Lal Salam, Market and few others, Arshad is all set for his directorial debut with ‘Doshi’.

“Having been associated with film industry for over years now, it was the time for me to take to direction —the long cherished dream,” says Arshad, who started with assisting veteran like KK Singh before switching over to independent writing and then direction.

“Filmmaking is no easy job and I feel it is a must to master things before you muster courage to take the final plunge,” adds Arshad whose another independent venture ‘Memsahab’ is also almost ready to take on the silver screen.

“Being produced by Kailash Shukla, it is a performance-oriented commercial film with the backdrop of the ‘84 riots,” says Arshad. Yukta Mookhey is playing the title role in the film which also stars Vijay Raaz, Govind Namdeo, Ahsan Khan and others.

Belonging to a small town, Siddharthnagar, Arshad comes from the middle class family. “My father is a retired station superintendent who wanted me to be an engineer. However, after completing mechanical engineering, I opted for a career in Bollywood and boarded a train to Mumbai and since then it has been no looking back,” reminisces Arshad, who has been camping in Allahabad for over two months now shooting for ‘Doshi’.

“The story is a political thriller and has some connection with this city and so it was a must to depict the locale of here to bring in authenticity,” says Arshad.

Being made under the banner of Shreya Films International and produced by Laxmi Narayan Pandey, the film will present Priyanshu (Tum Bin fame) as a cop who unravels the murder mystery by smartly using the best of law in helping the cause but not succumbing to it loopholes. “The message is positive. All is not wrong with law. You will have to mould it to your needs,” says Arshad whose mantra is to make films that should give people a thought for their penny.

“The times have changed. You can not fool audience. Besides, for filmmakers it is a must to follow their conscience,” he explains while signing off with a promise to churn out only issue-based quality films.
