A follower of Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa, Haryana on Tuesday approached the Punjab and Haryana high court alleging that Dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has sexually exploited his wife and when he was exposed he threatened to kill the petitioner.
Taking up the petition filed by a resident of Panchkula, Vishwas Gupta, seeking security to his family, the single judge bench of justice LN Mittal issued notice to the Haryana home secretary, director general of police, superintendent of police, Panchkula and station house officer of Sector-14 police station, Panchkula.
The bench was informed that petitioner’s father, Mohinder Pal Gupta who is son of former MLA from Gharaunda constituency-Rulia Ram Gupta, got associated in Dera Sacha Sauda in 1970 and later the petitioner also associated himself in Dera. It was alleged that petitioner’s father was lured by Dera head to sell his agricultural land and property after which Dera head deposited the proceeds of the sold property with Dera factories which promise that the amount would be returned whenever asked. But, the petitioner has alleged, now Dera head has refused to return the funds.
After selling their property when the petitioner’s family shifted to Dera, the Dera head selected a girl of his choice from Fatehabad for marriage with Vishwas Gupta and solemnized the marriage on February 14, 1999. It was alleged on the very next day Dera head changed petitioner’s wife’s name.

{{/usCountry}}Later, on December 30, 2009, Dera head declared in the presence of Sadhus that he has adlpted Gupta and his wife his son-in-law and daughter. The petitioner alleged that after that his wife has not been allowed by Dera head to stay with him “even for a day and she has been kept hy him all the time in the Dera by enticing her with intention to have illicit sexual intercourse with her” knowing well that she is a legally wedded wife.
“…petitioner’s belief was shattered when one night petitioner was in Dera Sirsa and he happened to enter the room(guffa) of Dera head and saw the Dera head totally nude and having sex with petitioner’s wife,” alleged the petitioner. The petitioner alleged that he was assaulted by the Dera head and threatened him not to open his mouth. Thereafter, the petitioner and his family decided to shift to Panchkula on July 16, however, petitioner’s wife is still with Dera head because of being enticed by him, the petitioner alleged.
