The police here do not have a dedicated cell to deal with the menace.

In December, in a suspected case of honour killing, the body of a youth was found hanging from the roof of his shop in Jhajhar area under Kakode police station. The body of her "friend" was also found in the shop.

In March, despite having "taken note of" of reports suggesting a minor girl may have been killed for "honour" at Yakutpur, Noida police did not bother to investigate the matter properly.

The girl was later found dead and buried.

In April, a Class 10 student was stabbed 18 times and left to die on a street in Noida. “Such incidents have to stop," the officer said.

In case officers fail to act despite apprehensions, stern action would be taken, the officer added.
