Chief Justice-designate KG Balakrishnan has said that it is very difficult to detect corruption, especially in the judiciary.
Asked about corruption in the judiciary, he said, "there are allegations of corruption. We do not know exactly what facts are there. People come to court to get justice. Then they feel that justice is being purchased, at least in a few cases".
"It is very difficult to detect corruption, especially in the judiciary. The traditional way of impeachment is quite complicated", a press release said quoting him from an interview.
He sought to brush aside suggestions of a confrontation between the judiciary and the executive, terming it as a common man's perception.
"Confrontation as such is not there. Judges taking a decision and conserving parliamentary matters is not confrontation", he said.
" But from the common man's perception it may be a confrontation", Balakrishnan added.
Speaking about the caste system prevalent in India, he observed that for some persons the "inner prejudice" is there. We should not have any prejudice, especially when deciding the rights of others" he added.
