A large number of devotees were seen in long queues outside the Kashi Vishwanath temple waiting for their turn to pay their obeisance to Lord Shiva. The city of temples was flooded with saffron-clad kanwarias in wake of the last Monday of Sawan.

Kanwarias from different parts of country thronged the Ganga to take a holy dip into the Ganga and later performed worship in the temple. The devotees entered the ancient Kashi Vishwanath temple through the Chatadwar and came outside after paying obeisance and offering Jalabhishek to Lord Vishwanath from the Saraswati Phatak. The devotees had been frisked by jawans at the yellow security zone of the temple.

Elaborate security arrangements had been made in and around the sensitive Gyanwapi Complex and on other religious and sensitive places of city. Thousands of security personnel consisting both Central and State forces were monitoring the security arrangement.
