Nath visited the hospital after the family members of the freedom fighter lodged a complaint about the negligence with the chief minister, Governor and other officials. An inquiry has already been set and probe into the matter is in process.
Nath took stock of the case-sheet and other relevant documents concerning the treatment of Gupta and also met officials of the hospital. Director Dr SS Srivastava was not available, as he had gone for a departmental meeting.

In his letter to the President, the freedom fighter’s son Awdhesh Gupta alleged that the hospital staff did not pay proper attention towards his father’s treatment nor did they care about his status as freedom fighter.

“The inquiry is in progress and we would soon come to the conclusion about the allegations from the family of the freedom fighter,” said director Dr SS Srivastava when contacted over telephone.
