DGP's directives to control crimes in UP

Singh reiterated the need to bring qualitative change in functioning to reduce crime rates in the state, reports M Hasan.

The DGP Bua Singh on Monday instructed the senior police officers of Lucknow zone to pull up socks for effective crime control in the zone. He said there was also a need to bring qualitative change in the functioning to generate confidence among the people within a week.

Issuing stern warning to careless police inspectors, the DGP said police should present itself as “friend and not as enemy” of the people.

Reviewing the crime situation of the zone here on Monday Singh said laid stress on attending even small grievances of the people. He said proper attention should be paid to petty crimes like chain snatching, eve-teasing and burglary.

He said there was also urgent need of intensifying patrolling. He said strict disciplinary action would be taken against corrupt officers.

The DGP asked the officers that ongoing crime control drive in Lucknow should be intensified. Bua Singh said as per the directives of the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to improve crime situation within 15 days, special drive had been launched all over the state for the arrest wanted criminals.

He said reward money on the heads of dreaded criminals was being increased which would help in providing adequate award to policemen involved in operation.

Meanwhile in a circular the DGP has directed the police to provide details of seized vehicles lying at police stations to state crime bureau. He said records of unclaimed vehicles at police stations should be computerized so that their disposal could be done without delay.
