Dhande gets extension

THE DIRECTOR of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-K), Dr SG Dhande was given a second term for five years. The extension order was received from the HRD Ministry on Thursday.

THE DIRECTOR of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-K), Dr SG Dhande was given a second term for five years. The extension order was received from the HRD Ministry on Thursday.

During his tenure, the institute touched a new mark in various research activities. Even the most important national project of railway security and safety was completed under his tenure. His first tenure was commenced from October 16, 2001.

Dr Dhande joined the IIT-K as an assistant professor in 1979 and since then he has been a crucial part of the institution and also played an important role in the development of the institution.

During his tenure various departments like bio-technology etc were opened. A few new departments like environment would be opened soon. He also introduced various scholarships for encouragement of students and appointed some excellent faculties for the betterment of students.

Talking to newsmen here today, Dr Dhande said like past years he would devote his time for the betterment of the IIT-K and also try to maintain the excellence and glory of the institution.
