For the past few days, a frenzy of getting rich overnight has gripped the villagers of Sultanpur, who are wading through knee-deep water in a river searching for Mughal era coins.
Scores of villagers have abandoned all work and even children have stopped going to schools and have literally plunged into the river searching for the coins, which are supposed to be made of gold and silver.
The villagers spend hours every day in the water looking for coins. They also scoop mud from the river and then sift through it in the hope that a glittering coin is stuck somewhere.
When asked around whether anyone had found any coins, the prospectors shook their head, but spoke of having heard that some people had found coins. "People who have found the coins are not divulging it," one of the villagers said.However, majority of the villagers have got swollen hands and feet after staying in the water for long periods.
The frenzied search started soon after there were heavy rains in the area and after a rumour began that some coins had been found in the river.

{{/usCountry}}Incidentally, this is not the first time that there was news of coins being found. Around four to five months back, when a road was being constructed in the village a similar frenzy had been seen, which lasted for around a month.
