MADHYA PRADESH Nirdaliya Morcha staged a dharna at Tin Shed in support of their demand to declare the remaining 20 wards as gas affected here today. Former MLA Shailendra Pradhan led the protest.
Members of the Morcha condemned the attitude of the Central and State Governments and demanded that these remaining 20 wards be declared gas-affected with immediate effect and the arrears of the compensation be paid to the residents of these wards.
Morcha spokesperson Kapuri Chouhan lashed out at the Centre and the State Government saying both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were using gas relief as a tool for gaining political mileage.
Morcha convener Shailendra Pradhan said he would present a memorandum to the State Minister for Gas Relief Babulal Gaur reminding him of his promise to get these wards declared as gas hit. He said politicising the issue and doing vote-bank politics over it would never help in delivering justice to the gas tragedy victims.
Employees’ leader Mahendra Sharma, Suresh Batham, Baldev Singh, Deepak Sarate, Ankit Thakur, Malti Bhadoriya, Rajdeep Singh, Akshay Qureshi and several others addressed the gathering. A delegation later presented a memorandum to the State Minister for Gas Relief, Babulal Gaur who in turn assured the delegation of carrying forward deliberations regarding the issue with Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh.
