Dhoni, lost in transliteration

A few days ago, a snapshot of a street name in Madurai went viral on social networks. Not without reason -- the signboard read Dhoni Street. Makes sense, given all that the Chennai Super Kings have achieved under the stewardship of MS Dhoni.

Turns out, though, that it's simply a slip by Madurai's municipal corporation. And while it's not known for sure if the original name is supposed to be short for Anthony or a variant of some Tamil word, one thing's for sure -- Tamil Nadu's second favourite adopted son (no prizes for guessing who the first one is) will have to wait awhile before seeing a street named after him in his second state.

Of course, there's no taking away from MSD the Tamil film bearing his name that released last year. Never mind the fact that it was a remake of a movie called Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho (if that did not induce a chuckle or two, just contact someone who speaks Marathi).
