Life in North Maharashtra's riot-affected Dhule town limped back to normal after curfew was relaxed for two hours this morning in the wake of Vijaya Dashmi celebrations, police said.

Curfew was relaxed for two hours from 0900 hours. No fresh incidents of violence have been reported and the situation is under control, DSP Sunil Kolhe said.

People today purchased milk, vegetables and flowers and women offered pooja at the famous Ekveera Devi temple in Devpur locality as part of the Dussera festivity.

However, the death toll in the riot has reached nine after two more persons succumbed to their injuries in government hospital last evening, police said.

So far 250 persons have been arrested in connection with the riots that broke out on Sunday after banners of Hindu Rakshak Samiti were found torn off in Ram mandir chowk, police said adding that several houses, shops and petrol pumps in different localities were also burnt by the rioting mob, they said.
