Diarrhoea strikes city again

The Colvin hospital administration has formed a special diarrhoea ward for these patients. The administration is also expecting a large number of gastro patients in the next few days from diarrhoea-prone areas like Kareli, Shahganj, Sabzi Mandi and Khuldabad.
According to the hospital records the diarrhoea and gastroenteritis patients who were admitted to the hospital in the past two days included Aslam (18) resident of Shahganj Sabzi Mandi, Abdul Majid (60) of Gausnagar in Kareli, Sajeevan Lal (60) of Attarsuiya, Raj (10) of Khuldabad and Jitendra (20) of Khaga in Fatehpur district. A five-month-old daughter of Ramprakash of Naya Purwa (Kareli) was also admitted to hospital with symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting.
In view of these cases the Colvin Hospital administration has formed a special diarrhoea ward. About 20 beds have been set aside for the diarrhoea and vomiting cases. The anti-diarrhoea medicines have also been stocked in an adequate quantity to provide quick treatment to the patients.
Meawhile, despite all the strict instructions of the chief medical officer the cut-fruit, sugar cane juice and other eatable items are being openly sold in Kareli, Khuldabad, Attarsuiya and Sabzi Mandi areas. The CMO had directed to check the open sale of the these food articles to avoid any outbreak like situation specially in the City West.
The UP government had also instructed the CMO and NN authorities to regularly sample the sugarcane juice, 'chat' items and fast food sold on the roadside and footpaths. The secretary directed to instantly destroy stale food items and ensure that sale of only fresh food.
District epidemic cell incharge Dr VK Mishra said they were closely monitoring all the diarrhoea cases in the district. The check on the sale of stale food items could be effectively done only with the cooperation of the Nagar Nigam authorities, he added.
