Questioning the genuineness of the visitors’ diary of his official residence-cum-camp office, CBI’s director Ranjit Sinha on Saturday said it has no record on several individuals who had met him during May 2013 to August 2014.

“The so-called visitors’ diary is dubious. It has no record of several persons who met me on a regular basis. Had it been an authentic document, their details would have been there,” Sinha told HT. “On the other hand, it contains entries on visitors during a period when I and my wife were abroad.” He said, “I may have met people at my residence but I extended no favour to anybody.”

HT had on Saturday reported that the diary, which was accessed by it, recorded visitors during April 8-13 across pages 57 to 60 even though his residence was then empty -- Sinha and his wife were in Europe, his son in Netherlands and daughter in Chhattisgarh.

According to a senior CBI source, there are at least two agency officers who visited his residence everyday as part of the protocol for matters related to administrative and investigations. “The diary makes no mention of these officers,” said the source.
