David Headley, the US national believed to be working for Lashkar-e-Toiba might have visited Jammu and Kashmir, home to some of the top commanders of the dreaded outfit involved in terror attacks in India, including 26/11 assault in Mumbai last year.
This aspect is being looked into. The records of foreigners ,who visited Jammu and Kashmir in the past two to three years, are being scanned.
This is what the state agencies are doing on their own, they have not received any communication from the Centre so far.
It is suspected that Headley, against whom the National Investigation Agency registered a case on Thursday , might have contacted the LeT men in Kashmir.
Whether he visited to meet the LeT commanders, that’s being ascertained, a source said.
The state agencies maintain a record of all the foreigners visiting Jammu and Kashmir.
That record is maintained by the criminal investigation wing of the state police.
When contacted, Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda said nothing of the interest has surfaced so far, and if anything comes out, it would be looked into.
