Denial by ICICI bank officials that nobody tried to deposit Rs 1 crore in their bank has given the head costable murder case an interesting twist. Also attempt by cops to book Pradeep Tripathi, pradhan of a village in Karchana and accused of complicity in the murder of the cop in a lesser crime has raised many an eyebrow.

Interestingly, deputy inspector-general (DIG) Akhilesh Mehrotra has asked AirTel to provide him with the call details of 9935494859 through which the caller expressed his anger with the bank employee for making his conversation with him/her public over the issue of the above sum which he had come to deposit in the bank.
It is a different matter that the bank employee asked the person for the Permanent Account Number (PAN) in the absence of which he/she expressed helplessness in getting such a big amount deposited in the bank. On the other hand AirTel is yet to provide the deputy inspector-general with the call details despite the fact that an official letter was issued to them by the DIG about a week ago.
The call details of the above number will provide all those numbers with which the owner of the number was in touch before the accidental murder of the head constable, said the sources.

{{/usCountry}}Though, it is exactly yet to be known as to who all went to the bank to deposit the money but police sources are quite sure that the don must have been there in the bank along with another person who had talked to the employee.
No body would give away such a huge amount to a person for being deposited in the bank in his absence, feels a section of cops.
It may be mentioned that Pradeep had confessed having sheltered Vinay Singh, a member of dreaded mafiosi Babloo Misra gang.
He had also confessed that Vinay had taken away his brand new motorcycle a day before the murder. The motorcycle had just done 290 km and had not been even registered.
Yet, cops booked him under Section 216 (sheltering criminals) and not Section 120 B ( aiding and abetting crime) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
This resulted in the bail which was granted to him without hassles.
On his part the senior superintendent of police (SSP) is reported to have said that legal aspects were looked into while booking the gram pradhan.
The senior superintendent of police also said that other sections of crime may be clamped on the pradhan if found relevant in due course of time.
What is pertinent to note here is why such softness was being shown in a case in which the life of a head constable was blown to pieces.
Is it not the pressure of a big Samajwadi Party leader which is watering down this sensational case? Credence is lent to this question by the fact that many innocents are booked by the cops even for acts they had not committed.
Police sources believe that many sensational revelations would be made in case those entrusted with the job, handle the investigations without prejudice or bias.
