DIG BB Bakshi said here that state security forces alone are not sufficient to ensure safety and security of the people. Involvement of people is must and only a joint collaboration between the masses and the state security agencies/bodies can bring about law and order. He also exhorted the non-government organisations to pitch in this task.

Bakshi was delivering his views after inaugurating the national seminar on ‘Human Security and Human Rights: Challenges and Option for India’ at Samwad Bhawan in Gorakhpur University. The seminar was organised by members of the department of defence and strategic studies of the university.
Bakshi said that in the wake of the current scenario of globalisation, it is essential to broaden the concept of security. Only when the people and security agencies work in tandem can we have a peaceful society.
President of the organising committee, Prof Rajendra Prasad said that in this two-day seminar, papers will be presented and discussions held on challenges to human rights and human security in the age of globalisation, science and technology etc.
