Taking strong exception to levelling of corruption charges by BJP leader Uma Bharti against him, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on Monday filed a defamation suit against her in a local court which issued summons asking her to appear before it on December 15.

Accompanied by his counsel, the Chief Minister filed the libel suit in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate NS Dixit seeking registration of a criminal case against Bharti and punishment to her for trying to tarnish his image through "false and baseless" allegatoins.
The suit did not seek any monetary compensation.
