A series of leaked photos showing Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh with a woman have hit the internet, setting off a social media frenzy.
HT has not independently identified the veracity of the pictures showing Singh with television journalist Amrita Rai. Neither Singh nor Rai have dismissed the pictures, though both wrote about it on Twitter on Wednesday and disclosed their plans to marry.
Both condemned the intrusion into their private life.
“I have no hesitation in accepting my relationship with Amrita Rai. She and her husband have already filed a mutual consent divorce case,” Singh tweeted. “Once that is decided we would formalise it. But I do condemn encroachment in our private life.”
Separately, Rai posted a couple of tweets saying she has “separated from my husband and we have filed a mutual consent divorce papers. After which I have decided to marry with Digvijaya Singh.”

Senior Congress leader Singh, 67, is a former Madhya chief minister (twice) and a widower.
On April 11, Singh had taken on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi after he acknowledged his marital status in a nomination affidavit.
“I am a widower and if I remarry i won't hide like your Dear Feku ! (sic),” he had tweeted.
