Manish Arora is a busy man. After having shown his collection at the recent Paris Fashion Week, he has now collaborated with home décor store Good Earth to create a line of bone china crockery. Ask him about the association and Arora says: “Good Earth and I wanted to create a range of very unique and beautiful chinaware because it is a matter of pride and prestige to have a great dinner set. It can last a lifetime and be a collectible.”

Arora has designed clothes, accessories, make-up, watches, a car, an auto rickshaw, a bike, restaurants, a barbershop and an alcohol bottle in the past, and now he’s served up luxury crockery for Good Earth. But not one to be content with his feats, Arora says he is still open to “interesting offers to design something I have never designed before.”

Tell Arora that his idiosyncratic style of designing earns him the tag of being the John Galliano of India, and he doesn’t sound too happy with the comparison. “I have made my mark in a different way from him (Galliano) and I think it is time that I am recognised for that. I don’t compare myself to any other designer because no one else does the kind of work that I do… In India or abroad,” he retorts.
