The five-member panel, including chairman Nisha Singh (councillor from ward 30), vice chairman Ravindra Yadav, Lakhpat Kataria, Anup Singh and Subhash Fauji.

"Residents come to us with complaints about muddy water, oil residue and foam. The agency workers do not bother to clean overhead tanks and repair leakages in the pipelines," said Nisha Singh.

The next meeting has been scheduled for December 22 and all concerned agencies have been asked to submit detailed reports of water supply maintenance. Besides water, inadequate and dysfunctional streetlights also emerged as a cause for concern. The committee members also proposed that private agencies (contractors) should be made more accountable. This will be asked to submit a monthly performance report to the committee.

The recommendations of the panel will be binding.
