Disability could not stop him

Despite his physical handicap, Dalip showed exemplary courage in jumping into the strong current in local Bhanukunj nallah near Kota town in an effort to save a woman, Aruna Kaushal, from drowning.

However, his effort went in vain as sudden rise in the water level swept Aruna away. His misery didn’t end there, as he too was caught in the midstream. After struggling for a while, he managed to climb over a bolder and waited for the rescue team, though with little hope.

Dalip said, “I had resigned to fate as nothing was visible or audible from the middle of the nallah, but I kept on praying. I saw a helicopter after several hours and heaved a sigh of relief.”

However, Aruna — the young lecturer from Polytechnic College, Jaipur — was not as lucky. She was enjoying with her family members and friends when strong current in the nallah swept her away. Her body was recovered by the police on Sunday.

Parliamentary secretary, Bhanwani Singh Rajawat said, “I got information about Dalip and got in touch with Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who immediately arranged for a helicopter to save him.”
