?Disabled deserve quota?

"IT IS true that despite three per cent reservation enough posts were not created in the government jobs to absorb all the disabled people. Commissioner Tripathi said disabled people and children were an important part of the society. They possessed all the rights to use resources available to normal person. “I feel that God did a little injustice to them but by supporting them to lead a normal and independent life, we can do justice to them as well as to the humanity," he added.

Tripathi said in the absence of support, many disabled persons were unable to get benefit from the government including pension and other financial support. He also appreciated the efforts of Mamta and Viklang Kendra for instilling creative spirit in mentally and physically disabled children.

Superintendent Mamta School Dr KK Mishra said despite lack of funds they managed to train children to lead a normal life.

The Commissioner gave away prizes to the winners of tricycle, frog and 100 meters race. Meanwhile, at Viklang Kendra, Bhardwaj Ashram, the main highlight of the World Disabled Day programme was the cultural programme jointly presented by Special School Children and the normal students of Maharishi Ved Vyas School.

On the occasion, Director Nazareth Hospital Rev Father Antony KK said the society should come forward to support Viklang Kendra so that it became a centre of excellence for the disabled children. Senior orthopaedic surgeon and honorary secretary Dr Bhaskar Banerji gave an overview of the activities of Viklang Kendra. Dr Neera Banerji conducted the programme. In the morning, different sports was organised for the Special School
Children.
