Are we disappointed too soon, or has it really been a disappointing year? The near absence of the rains, leading an official declaration of a drought year, the abject performance of the party with a difference, BJP, in opposition, the vociferous sloganeering and little follow up for the World Social Forum, the shameful power play with utter disregard for history in Taj's 350th birthday celebrations and of course Sachin Tendulkar's persistent health problems that kept him out of play for most of year, all contributed to the flat feeling that Indians at large felt.
Internationally too, the persisting conflict in Sri Lanka and the disturbing violence in Iraq continued to hog international headlines through the year. Global economy too struggled to get back to its feet, but recurring jobs cuts did little to ameliorate the situation.
