Several residents living in posh localities of the city have decided not to be a part of the electoral process as they have lost trust in the government establishments or its representatives.
"Many representatives come and promise us the world but after getting elected no promise is fulfiled. I am not going to vote for such candidates. They have promised us regular power and water supply, good roads and a well maintained colony but no action will be taken on ground," Usha Shrivastava, a resident of Sector 56, said.
Similarly, SC Tiwari of a high-rise in Sector 52 criticised the whole concept of a democratic process. "Leaders from a family have been ruling our nation for so long and they have done no good for the development of our country. If the top level leaders have not done anything till now what are these subordinates going to do?"
But there are some voters who have a different opinion. We cannot complain about the lack of facilities if we don't participate in the elections, they said.
Vikas Kataria of high-rise Nile in Sector 49 said, "If we refuse to be a part of the system of electing our own representatives, then we have no right to point a finger at them and ask for our basic amenities."

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, many candidates have complained that some residents of posh condominiums are oblivious to the fact that elections to the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon are to be held on May 15.
"When I went to canvass in a condominium I found many residents who were unaware of the elections. Our canvassing is useless if we approach people who are not going to vote or are ignorant towards the election process," Deepak Sharma, a candidate from ward 32, said.
