THE NUMBER of dissatisfied aspirants demonstrating at the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) headquarters alleging irregularities in PSC Mains exam-2003, has swelled with several more joining them on the second day of an indefinite ‘dharna’ on Wednesday. The aggrieved have also petitioned Governor Dr Balram Jakhar and received a promise of investigating the matter.
About 200 affected candidates from Gwalior/ Chambal division and other areas including Dhar, Jhabua, Bhind, Morena gathered under the banner of MP PSC Pratiyogi Chhatra Sangh to lodge their protest. Raising slogans against PSC chairman Professor Pradeep Joshi and Secretary Madhu Khare they levelled even personal allegations on them while raising questions on the conduct of examinations by the Commission.
As government offices remained closed due to a local holiday, they could not meet senior PSC functionaries and had to remain content with submitting a memorandum to PSC examination controller Dr Urmi Sharma.
Their major demands include revaluation of copies of 2003 main examination under the supervision of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), showing copies of the failed students and the marks obtained by them and the scaled and non-scaled marks of disqualified students. They also demanded to stop further interviews of qualified candidates until the issues were resolved.
SDM Umashankar Bhargav tried to pacify the students by telling them that he too had come through the PSC and would not let harm come to future officers. He said that he had a discussion with the PSC chairman and secretary, who had assured him of holding a PSC board meeting in the first week of January where the demands and problems of the students would be discussed.
However, the unsuccessful candidates not satisfied with the assurance, have decided to continue with their ‘dharna’. CSP Irmeen Shah and other police personnel kept a vigil at the dharna spot.

A delegation led by MPPSC Pratiyogi Chhatra Sangh secretary Yogendra Mishra met the Governor Dr Balram Jakhar, who assured necessary action to resolve the issue. Dr Jakhar is understood to have told the aspirants that he knew about their problems and would look into it.
State Congress Committee (MPCC) president Subhash Yadav who was present with the Governor when the delegation met him, has invited the aggrieved aspirants to his residence on Friday to discuss the issues.
Yadav assured them of extending all help if there was truth in the allegations levelled by them regarding discrepancy in the evaluation process of the States most prestigious exam.
