LEADER OF Opposition in the State Assembly Jamuna Devi on Saturday said urea crisis in the State was mainly due to ill-preparedness of the State Government for proper distribution of the fertiliser among farmers rather than its shortage in supply from the Centre as being alleged by the ruling BJP.
Talking to reporters at her residence, Jamuna Devi referred to her meeting with Union Chemical and Fertiliser Minister Ramvilas Paswan. She said the Union Minister was keen on meeting any shortfall in availability of urea in the State and officials of his Ministry also talked to Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni in this regard. But, the ‘fact’ of matter as emerging from available figures is that the State Government has not been able to fully off-load the quota of urea provided by the Centre in October, November and December, she said.
She also distributed copies of her letter written to Chief Minister about her meeting with Paswan and information fetched by the latter about urea supplied to the State and inability of the State Government to fully offload it.
In this situation, accusing the Centre of urea crisis in Madhya Pradesh was a ‘malicious’ attempt on the part of BJP Government in the State to shift blame on the Central Government for its own failure to provide adequate urea to farmers in the State and check its black marketing in the open market, she said.

{{/usCountry}}On her contempt petition against Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi and his reported statement as to who Jamuna Devi is to interfere in BJP’s internal matter, she said Vishnoi should remember that the charge of irregularities in DMAT was made in the State Assembly and Speaker Ishwardas Rohani’s observation on alleged irregularities in DMAT had also been made in the House and anything that happened on the floor of the House could not be internal matter of any political party.
