EVEN AFTER two and a half years of the panchayat elections the administration is undecided on taking action against Indore district panchayat president Yogita Chaudhary.
Similarly, no action has been initiated against district panchayat vice-president Prahlad Singh Thakur, who has been found guilty under Section 36 (2) of Panchayati Raj evam Gram Swaraj Adhiniyam, which relates to expulsion from membership of district panchayat.
Soon after the elections, Minister of State for SC Welfare Prakash Sonekar, in a written complaint to district administration, had charged Choudhary and her family members with getting their names entered in electoral rolls from three different constituencies. He alleged that Choudhary maintained two ration cards in her name.
When the police refused to register an FIR, saying that district panchayat president had been declared guilty under Panchayati Raj Adhiniyam and it was outside their jurisdiction to register a complaint, electoral registration officer and SDM P S Bagga approached Additional Advocate General Ashok Kutumbale to seek legal opinion.
Kutumbale delegated the job to government advocate Umesh Gajankush, who referred the matter to his another colleague who is reported to have sent it back to Bagga. So the matter has been lying stuck for the past one month.
On November 2, district BJP president Gopal Singh Choudhary and others submitted a complaint before Divisional Commissioner Ashok Das that Prahlad Thakur remained absent in three consecutive meetings of district panchayat held on August 28, September 27 and October 28, 2006, without assigning any reasons.

Thakur had quit BJP and joined Congress soon after the panchayat polls. Das, when contacted, said that the issue after having been looked into was being reverted to janpad panchayat for a decision.
