Irked over the inadequate water supply, a large number of residents and members of the residents’ welfare association (RWA) of DLF City Phase-III staged a protest against the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and DLF Estate Developers Ltd. at Moulsary Avenue Road on Monday.
Carrying banners and shouting slogans, the residents blocked both sides of the road in DLF City Phase-III, causing a traffic jam for nearly an hour.
Vehicular movement was affected in Blocks V, T, U in Moulsary Avenue and gate no. 16 of DLF City Phase-III leading to the NH-8.
“We have been forced to protest as there has been no water supply from the last six days,” said Vijay Chopra, a resident.
Joginder Singh, RWA president, DLF City Phase-III, said, “Our main demand pertains to inadequate supply of water from Huda due to technical faults from the booster pump. A standby booster pump is not available. Another major issue is the inadequate distribution of water to all households of DLF City Phase 3 by the developers.”
With regard to the complaints, DLF estate manager, Baljeet Singh, said, “Water is being supplied on a regular basis to residents.

{{/usCountry}}There was a leakage in an underground Huda pipeline on May 19, which caused water scarcity.
The problem is being rectified. Secondly, the Basai treatment plant from where water is being generated, witnesses frequent power cuts due to which, the quantity of water being supplied is less.”
Singh said a register had been made available at the community centre in DLF City Phase-III, where residents could provide their names and addresses to call a tanker at their residence.
The residents also raised demands regarding the adoption of dual water system supply and utilisation of waste water practices by the developers.
“The developers have made available facilities such as water and power back-up in multi-storeyed apartments but not in plotted townships like ours?” said RK Malhotra, a resident.
Meanwhile, RWA members of DLF City Phase-III also visited Huda administrator after the protest.
“Though the administrator was not present at his office, the SDO assured that all demands will be met within a week,” said Joginder Singh.
