DISTRICT MAGISTRATE Amrit Abhijat who took charge as administrator of Allahabad Nagar Nigam here on Sunday, has reiterated his priority for cleanliness in the city.

Addressing a meeting with NN officers just after assuming charge, the new administrator recounted increase in NN revenue as his second priority.
Referring to the ‘National Urban Renewal Mission’ (NURM), the administrator said the dream of alround development of the city seemed possible now as the Union Government had selected Allahabad among five cities in Uttar Pradesh for the NURM.
The main thrust of the sub-mission on urban infrastructure and governance would be on major infrastructure projects relating to water supply including sanitation, sewage, solid waste management, road network, urban transport and redevelopment of inner old city areas with a view to upgrading infrastructure therein and shifting industrial and commercial establishments to conforming areas, he said.
Slum improvement and rehabilitation, sites and services, environmental improvement, night shelters, community toilets and housing at affordable prices for the economically weaker section and lower income group categories
would be taken up under the mission, said the administrator.
He called upon the people to send their suggestions to him regarding the development plan of the city.

{{/usCountry}}He directed the Nagar Nigam Municipal Commissioner to convene a meeting with journalists, people’s representatives, advocates, eudcationists and social organisations to discuss the plan so that final shape could be given to it till February 20.
He said two IAS officers, Mayur Maheshwari and Ritu Maheshwari, had been sent to Nagpur to review the urban plan being executed there.
