MEMBERS OF the Anjuman Tahaffuz Auqaf Committee submitted a memorandum to district magistrate Dr Hariom demanding, to remove the encroachment over the cemetery land in Buxipur locality under the Kotwali police station.

The five members delegation led by secretary of the committee Syed Ahmad claimed that cemetery land was a Waqf property and their Waqf registration number was 462/9,8,9 and there was a weaving mill adjacent to the cemetery land. They said weaving mills owners have given their flats on rents and the tenants had opened their doors in the cemetery land.
He said colonizer and land mafias were trying to develop a passage in middle of the cemetery land, which has posed threat to the existence of several cemented grave, and resentment was brewing among members of a particular community over the bid to encroach the cemetery land.
Syed Ahmad said that district magistrate has directed SDM to make a spot inspection of the cemetery land and to submit their report within two week. It is the second incident of illegal possession over cemetery land within two month.
