The protests organised by the Youth Wing were held at two places in the city under the leadership of party's South and North Chennai secretaries J Anbazhagan and V S Babu respectively.

Mayor M Subramanian, Union Minister M K Azhagiri's daughter Kayalvizhi and several others participated in the protests.

Protestors raised slogans against former Tamil Nadu chief minister for seeking frequent adjournments in the disproportionate wealth case pending in a Bangalore court, and sought to "remind people of her tactics".

Similar protests were held across the state, including in Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem and Tiruvannamalai by local youth wing leaders and MLAs.

Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin, the patron of the Youth Wing, had on Jul 26 announced the protest against Jayalalithaa for seeking frequent adjournments in the case "on some ground or the other and dragging the case for 13 years".

Ridiculing the DMK stir, Jayalalithaa had said staging protests against the Opposition on a legal matter was "unheard of" for a ruling party.
