It’s time to give a break to the size-zero diet regime. Christmas and New Year celebrations are around the corner, and the nip in the air will help you hide the extra kilos under thick sweaters and overcoats. Do away with the guilt pangs and dig into these sinful desserts.

Try the rich stollen bread at Ye Old Bakery, The Claridges, Aurangzeb Road. Executive chef Ravi Saxena’s recipe is made with alcohol-soaked dry fruits, lots of fruits and nuts, and almond paste. It is baked and deep fried, then topped with a thick frosting of icing sugar. Eat on the spot or get it packed.

Don’t have a date? Feeling depressed? Pamper yourself with a fluffy plum cake. Chef Bijner Singh of Tivoli Garden Resort, Chhattarpur, makes it using butter, raisins, cashew nuts, tutti fruitty, pineapple flowers, candy peel and mixed fruit jam. Have it there or take some home.

Treat yourself to chef Kim Caula’s orange white chocolate mousse at Emperor Lounge, The Taj Mahal hotel, Mansingh Road. Ingredients include egg yolk, fresh pressed orange, melted white chocolate and fresh cream. Only on order.

A recent study says that chocolate gives women the same pleasure as sex. That may or may not be true, but do savour executive sous chef Kartick Sharma’s sticky chocolate pudding at 24/7 Pastry Shop at The Lalit, Barakhamba Road. The dessert is made with single origin dark chocolate.

Wrap up the year with chef Daniel Kowshy’s banoffee pie with almond brittle and Bailey’s sauce at R.E.D, The Radisson MBD, Noida. This banana and butterscotch tart is topped with crème Chantilly, candied almonds and spun sugar.
