The villagers, on Thursday, threatened to intensify agitation if the high-tech plan were not cancelled and action initiated against the people in the government who took the farming community casually by signing high-tech city agreement for their own benefits.

The farmers of different villages are strongly opposing establishment of high-tech city in Varanasi between Rohania and Mohansarai. In this connection, a large number of farmers, including women of affected villages under the banner of ‘Khet Bachchao Kissan Sangharsh Samiti’ staged a dharna at district headquarters on Thursday.

Leaders of the different political parties flayed the Samajwadi Party for creating hell for the farmers by displacing them and converting fertile land for so called high-tech city in Varanasi.

Surprisingly, the farmers said that high-tech city idea was the brainchild of Unitech Construction Company, which in connivance of some leaders clandestinely facilitated 2200- acre land deal agreement as was done at Noida.
