Saxena is among 1,953 government doctors who have been dismissed by the UP government for being absent from their duties for long.

“Pathologist Richa Saxena was among government doctors dismissed by the state government. She had been absent from duty since January 2008. Later, she was transferred to Fatehpur but she did not join there and instead filed a

petition in the High Court against the transfer,” said Dr Dinesh Kumar, Additional Director (Health).

“In 2008, she was transferred again. However, neither did she take up the new post nor did she send in her resignation,” he added.

“In July 2009, the state government had given an opportunity to the defaulting doctors to explain their absenteeism and why they should not be dismissed,” said Dr Kumar.
