The doctors at Sassoon Hospital, where all Pune blast victims were brought, worked round-the-clock to get 24 x-ray pictures of each body before the post-mortems.

Forensic Department officials said the x-rays showed that the bodies “had metal chips along with iron rods”. This meant that they were part of the bomb that went off at German Bakery last Saturday.

The iron rods were slightly larger than nails along with metal chips, backed by a chemical composition of RDX, ammonium nitrate and hydrocarbon oil. The use of rods, said a forensic expert, was to ensure “maximum damage”.
