Docs strike work after attack on colleagues

Patients at the BR Ambedkar Multi-speciality Hospital in Sector 30 had to wait for hours on Wednesday morning as doctors went on a strike after a road accident victim's family assaulted their colleagues. The gates of the hospital remained closed all morning.

Patients at the BR Ambedkar Multi-speciality Hospital in Sector 30 had to wait for hours on Wednesday morning as doctors went on a strike after a road accident victim's family assaulted their colleagues. The gates of the hospital remained closed all morning.

Seeing hundreds of patients queued up outside, doctors later called off their strike by noon and resumed duties after the police assured to provide security. The city police have deployed extra officials at the hospital and a permanent PCR van has been stationed at the premises.

On an average, around 1,500 patients visit the hospital daily. However, the facility catered to only 450 patients on Wednesday in over an hour and a half of service provided.

"I met with an accident a week ago and came here to get my wound dressed. I came all the way from Sector 62 to wait for doctors for hours," said Dheeraj Kumar, a patient.

"I have brought my three-year-old son. He has fever for the past two days," said Bharka Chauhan, resident of Harola area.
