After overcoming a number of hurdles, student organisers of the Maulana Azad Medical College managed to put together a good fashion show finale.

Though there were just four teams in the fray and the show began four hours late, the enthusiasm of the participants more than made up for the glitches.

Along with the usual western and ethnic wear rounds, the fashion show included an innovative competition where the home team emerged winner. The ‘innovative’ round was dedicated to nature and the stage saw six couples walking down in jute, paper and flowers. And you thought doctors were short on imagination!

In the ethnic round, two MAMC girl students came sashaying down the ramp in navel-revealing ghagra cholis and sarees worn in interesting styles. They labelled their Indianwear funky ethnic. “MAMC put together the best show and we won because we deserved it. It was the ethnic round that gave us an edge over the others,” said Shilpi Chauhan, Cultural secretary of the Azad Medicos
Association.

The judges for the event were model Aakriti and belly dancer Mandira.

Delhi College of Engineering, who stood second, had a vocal crowd cheering them on. ‘Being Hippie’ was their theme for the innovative round. “We believe that the Hippie style gives us ample room for innovation. It’s about expressing yourself and that leaves us with many options to experiment,” elaborated Ganesh Kochar, a third year student of electrical engineering at Delhi College of Engineering.

University College of Medical Sciences team came third.
