Gautam Budha Nagar project director RP Yadav, who is also the chief development officer, said this. The district has 243 village panchayats. Most of them have been notified for acquisition by the three authorities.

“Only 51 panchayat plots are yet to be notified. The panchayat land will be acquired in a few years,” he said.

The district development office is responsible for carrying out rural development, including sanitation and construction of individual toilets. Besides, its work includes carrying out poverty alleviation programmes for villagers.

The authorities have taken over the responsibility of carrying out development in villages under their jurisdiction. They plan to develop villages at par with sectors.

Many villages have been converted into colonies.

“Farmers have got huge land compensation, so there is no need for carrying out poverty alleviation programmes for them,” said Yadav. “Noida was created under the Uttar Pardesh Industrial Development Act in 1976. Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority came into being in 1991, while the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority was created in 2001,” he said.
