Doggone it! DNA test on pet to verify claim

This dog is definitely having his day. Not only does he have two masters fighting over him, but he could also undergo a DNA test.

Kaiser, a healthy sand-coloured Labrador, landed up at a police station in Thiruvananthapuram after two people laid claim to him. A woman approached the police complaining that her relative Remo Peter had kidnapped her pet. However, Peter had a different story to tell. He showed the police a purchase receipt for the pet, but the woman produced medical bills of the dog’s treatment at a vet hospital.

According to Peter, he and his pet moved into the relative’s house a few years ago. When Remo later moved to another house, the woman refused to let him take the pet, saying it belonged to her equally.

Peter then went to the house one day when no one was around and left with Kaiser. The relative then approached the police, who first tried to settle the issue amicably. But both refused to back down, prompting the police to book a complaint.

Peroorkada Circle inspector K. Biju suggested a way out: Kaiser would be brought to the police station and in the presence of the rival claimants. “The dog would go to his real master and we could settle the row. Peter agreed but the woman refused,” said Biju.
