Doha-Pawina sets world record in 63 kg.

Pawina lifted 142 kg in the clean and jerk to improve Svetlana Shimkova's record of 141 kg.

Olympic champion Pawina Thongsuk of Thailand bettered a 23-year-old clean and jerk world record on Monday on her way to the Asian Games 63-kilogram weightlifting gold medal. Pawina lifted 142 kg in the clean and jerk to improve Russian Svetlana Shimkova's record of 141 kg set at Wladyslawowo, Poland in 1983.

The Thai weightlifter eclipsed her own Asian record of 140 kg. Pawina hoisted 110 kg in the snatch for a combined 252 kg.
