AS THE unemployment dole bandwagon rolls into Kanpur, the district authorities have decided to close all schools and colleges on July 31, to facilitate proper handling of the situation.

The Chief Minister is expected to distribute the allowance cheques to beneficiaries at a function at the Phoolbagh ground on the day.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for transporting men and women beneficiaries to the ground and special buses would run from 14 points in the city.

Beneficiaries would be offered breakfast and lunch in the buses. The buses would also drop the beneficiaries at the point, from where they had boarded.
The buses would be available at Panki, Govind Nagar, Kidwai Nagar, Yashoda Nagar, Barra, Shyam Nagar, Lal Bangla, Kalyanpur, P Road, Chamanganj, Acharya Nagar, Benajhabar, Azad nagar and Harjinder Nagar. In the rural areas, these buses would be available from Bidhnu, Sarsaul, Patara Ghatampur, Chaubepur, Shivrajpur, Bilhaur and Kakvan.

According to District Magistrate Anurag Srivastava, all beneficiaries were expected to reach Phoolbagh ground before 8 am. No entry would be allowed after the fixed time and to the beneficiaries who did not have the identity card issued by the State Employment Exchange.

A press release issued by the District Information Office said that men and women candidates, registered with the Exchange before February 28, 2006, and not employed, were eligible to receive the unemployment allowance. If they had applied for the allowance and their applications had been approved, they would have to carry the identity cards given by the Exchange till July 24.

Besides the identity cards, each candidate would be required to bring High School certificate, Bank Pass Book and the original registration certificate of the Exchange with him.

Each candidate would be paid four months allowance through cheque on the day by the Chief Minister, the release said.

Meanwhile, activists of the Samajwadi Party (SP) have decided to accord a warm welcome to the chief minister at every crossing of the city. Party workers have decided to decorate at least 300 important crossings to welcome Mulayam Singh Yadav.
